My Commitment to Your Privacy

I'm Andrew Sauer, and I'm running for the Big Bear City Community Services District Board. Transparency is one of my core values, and that includes being clear about how I handle your information when you visit this website or interact with my campaign.

The short version: I collect only what I need to communicate with you, I never sell your information, and you can ask me to delete it anytime.

What I Collect

Email Signup

When you sign up for campaign updates, I collect your email address. That's it. I use this to send you occasional updates about CSD board meetings and campaign news (typically 1-2 emails per month).

Contact Form

When you reach out through the contact form, I collect:

• Name - so I know who I'm talking to
• Email address - so I can respond
• Phone number (optional) - if you prefer a call back
• Your message - your questions, concerns, or feedback

Website Analytics

I use Vercel Analytics to understand how people use this website. This service collects anonymous, aggregated data like which pages are visited, what devices people use, and where visitors come from geographically. Vercel Analytics is privacy-focused and does not use cookies or track you across websites.

How I Use Your Information

• Email signups: To send campaign updates and CSD board meeting summaries
• Contact form submissions: To read and respond to your message personally
• Analytics: To understand what content is useful and improve the website

I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Ever. I also won't share your email with other political campaigns, PACs, or candidates.

Who Has Access

Your information is accessible only to:

• Me (Andrew Sauer) - I personally read contact form submissions
• Campaign volunteers - Trusted helpers who may assist with communications

I use these third-party services to run this website:

• Firebase (Google) - Securely stores email signups and contact form submissions

These services act as data processors on my behalf and are contractually required to protect your information.

Your Choices

Unsubscribe Anytime

Every email I send includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it and you're off the list immediately. No hoops to jump through, no guilt trips.

Access, Correct, or Delete Your Data

You're in control. Email me anytime at andrew@sauerforcsd.com to:

• See what information I have about you
• Correct anything that's wrong
• Ask me to delete your information entirely

I'll respond within 30 days (usually much faster).

Do Not Track

Vercel Analytics doesn't track individual users, so there's nothing to opt out of. Your browsing is already private.

Data Security

I take reasonable steps to protect your information:

• HTTPS encryption - All data transmitted to and from this site is encrypted
• Firebase security - Your data is stored with Google's enterprise-grade security
• Limited access - Only I and trusted campaign staff can view your information

No system is 100% secure, but I'm committed to protecting your information with industry-standard practices.

Data Retention

I keep your information only as long as needed:

• Email subscribers: Until you unsubscribe or the campaign concludes
• Contact submissions: For the duration of the campaign so I can follow up if needed
• Analytics: Aggregated data only (no personal information)

California Privacy Rights

If you're a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). While my campaign likely qualifies for the nonprofit exemption, I honor these rights for everyone:

• Right to know what personal information I collect
• Right to delete your personal information
• Right to opt-out of sale of personal information (I don't sell it)
• Right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

Children's Privacy

This website is not directed at children under 13. I don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to my campaign, please contact me immediately.

Changes to This Policy

If I make significant changes to this policy, I'll update the "Last Updated" date and, for email subscribers, send a notification. Your continued use of this website after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
